A year ago, a robber came into our new home while we were sleeping. We have no idea HOW and WHY couldn't we hear them coming into the house. Even our dogs (one of the dog is a Rottweiller!) didn't made any noise. Well, being traditional people, we believe that the robber had cast some charm on us that nobody at home (including the dogs) would've noticed them.
Amongst other items stolen were my mother in-law's jewelleries which consists of her diamond necklaces and diamond rings. We lost $10k worth of cash too.. and a brand new Notebook. :-(
As much as we were devastated with the loss, knowing that we had a home insurance which gave us a bit of consolation, because at least we'll get some compensation back from all our lost. That's when I know that having insurance is IMPORTANT. Well, nothing happened to our cars tho, no scratch, no broken windows, nor did they try to steal the car away. Anyway, even if they did smash the car window or something, it wouldn't be a big problem too, because all of us have car insurance! :-)
The only thing left now.. is for me to get a life insurance. Can you believe that I do not have one, despite having all the other insurance for my stuff? LOL!
